Welcome! It is with great pleasure that we share our 2009 Making a Difference for Women Honorees: the Honorable Shirley Mount Hufstedler and Antonia Hernandez! We are also pleased to announce our our Woman of Achievement winner: Paulina Chavez from Homegirl Cafe! Soroptimist is an international volunteer service organization for business and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls, in local communities and throughout the world. Soroptimist International is a global service organization devoted to working for the best for all women. With over 90,000 members throughout the world, it has contributed to major advances for women including: clean water initiatives, Aids programs for women, literacy projects, and domestic violence prevention. Soroptimist International of Los Angeles (SILA) was chartered in 1922 and has worked tirelessly towards improving the lives of women and girls in Southern California and beyond.
